Liposuction

As everyone knows, liposuction is the process of pulling the fat out of the body. It is one of the most applied aesthetic procedures today. The importance that people give to their external appearance is increasing day by day. In our time when social media such as instagram and facebook are used more and more, it is more important to look photogenic. Seeing oneself beautiful and attractive in the mirror contributes to increasing self-confidence and communicating with people more quickly. Aesthetic interventions, which have begun to be seen as the key to beautification, affect their psychology as well as their appearance.

The best candidates for liposuction surgery are people with elastic skin and localized fat tissue increase without excess skin sagging. The point I would like to emphasize most about liposuction surgery is that this procedure is not a weight loss procedure, but a contour correction procedure.

My first recommendation for patients with increased fat tissue in their body is to try to lose weight with sports, diet and their own effort. It is necessary to investigate health problems such as insulin resistance, excess cortisol, hypothyroidism, Cushing (overwork of adrenal hormones). If there are such disorders, they should be treated. During menopause, there is a physiological increase in fat in the body. Habitual conditions such as inactivity, excessive alcohol consumption, and chronic stress also cause an increase in adipose tissue.

Liposuction surgery is the gold standard solution for patients who cannot get rid of their fat tissues despite correcting all these factors. Fat removal can be done from any area of the body that may have fat. If it is to be applied to a very small area (such as the jowl, the inner edge of the knee), it can be performed even with local anesthesia.

We aspirate the fat tissues with a cannula and vacuum device from the areas where we inject a bleeding-reducing solution. Processing time varies according to the width of the area to be made. Fat removal surgery permanently reduces fat receptors along with fat cells. This is why liposuction is permanent for life. Even if the patient gains weight, there will be less lubrication in the areas where liposuction is performed. We still recommend not to gain or lose too much weight after these surgeries in order to avoid asymmetries in the body.

Will there be any scars in liposuction surgery? In this process, incisions are made in areas that will not be too noticeable such as the belly button, groin, armpits, and it is not disturbing because there are small incisions such as 0.5 cm.

After the procedure, special corsets are used for about 4 weeks. These corsets provide both less edema and better tightening of the skin. You can return to work life 2-3 days after the operation and daily work can be done easily. The final result of the surgery is seen after about 2 months.

Change of liposuction surgeries with the development of technology: In the past, only classical vacuum devices used to remove fat in these surgeries. It would have disadvantages in patients with relatively looser skin and patients with a lot of fat removed. Today, thanks to ultrasound, laser and mechanical energy systems, it is possible to remove larger amounts of fat with less bleeding, less pain and in a safer way. With these devices, we achieve better results by tightening the skin.

As a result, liposuction is our most powerful weapon against stubborn fat.
